Tourists Visiting the Vernadsky Research Base Antarctica
Tourists line up to enter the Ukrainian Vernadsky scientific research base on the Antarctic Peninsula. Originally established by the British first as Base F in the British Falkland Islands Dependencies and later as Faraday Station, it was transferred to the Ukraine in 1996 and renamed Vernadsky Research Base after Soviet mineralogist Vladimir Vernadsky.
