Antigue Parque Central Fountain and Catedral de Santiago at Night
On the northern side of Antigua's Parque Central, the Catedral de Santiago (Cathedral of Santiago) was begun in 1542 but mostly destroyed by the earthquake of 1773,. It was only partially rebuilt after that, mainly the facade of the front facing the park which now houses the Inglesio de San Jose (Church of Saint Joseph). Behind the facade are ruins of the original cathedral.
